Fuller Lips
Enhance your lips to make them luscious and pouty with Facial Dermal Fillers
What can this treatment possibly do?
Full lips have been associated with youth, beauty and voluptuousness. Robust, pouty lips are considered to be sexually attractive by both men and women.
As aging takes place, intrinsic aging, sun exposure and repetitive pursing of the orbicularis orris muscle produce angular, radial, and vertical “lipstick bleed lines”. Gravity, osteoporosis, dental changes, maxillomandibular bony resorption, and further soft tissue volume loss at the oral commissures cause the commissures to turn downward in a perpetual frown. Midfacial aging with ligamentous laxity in the cheeks causes the commissures to the mandible.
In addition to this hard and soft tissue volume loss, the the lip margin may become blunted with flattening of the philtrum columns and loss of projection of the cupid’s bow. Aging also leads to pallor of the vermilion that results in the loss of sharp vermilion-cutaneous junction demarcation. These may be reduced and corrected with lip fillers.
What medical technology or device does this treatment utilise and how it is done?
The lip filler procedure is done by injecting Hyaluronic Acid Fillers / Dermal Fillers into the lips to contour and enhance the shape of the lips for a fuller, luscious and pouty lips.
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring component found in the skin, eye and cartilage. Approximately half of human body’s natural occurring hyaluronic acid is found in the skin, and as such is biocompatible and biodegradable (absorbable) by the human body.
Hyaluronic acid has many roles, though a major function is the binding of water, and it is this which determines skin viscoelasticity, hydration, structure and firmness. As skin ages, natural dermal hyaluronic acid found in the skin decreases and results in reduced elasticity, volume loss, and the development of wrinkles (rhytids) and other aging features. The injection of dermal filler into the skin can thus improve hydration, elasticity, structure, firmness and volume of treated skin.
What are the likely results? Any side effects or downtime?
Proper artistic injection of dermal filler into the lips augment and artistically create aesthetically pleasing lips.
The objective in treating the upper lip is to artistically create a form that harmonises with the patient’s unique facial features and takes into account the age and ethic background of the patient. The goal in treating the lower lip us to create bulk and prominence and artistic projection of the vermilion.
Some redness and mild swelling may be expected which generally goes off in a couple of hours.
At Tiffiny Yang’s we believe that the ideal height ratio of the upper lip to the lower lip is 1:1.6. The fundamental proportions of the lips change as one ages. We are also very careful to establish appropriate guidelines in treatment to ensure that the lip filler treatment is relative to normal lip proportions in order to avoid bizarre, cartoon like appearances. “Sausage” or “duck” lips are often the results from over correction and shows a poor understanding of the delicate artistic features of lip anatomy.
In Youthful lips, the ideal vertical height height ratio of the upper lip to the lower lip is 1:1.6.
This treatment has synergy and can be combined with?
Lip filler can augment and evert volume depleted lips. For patients that have pronounced radial “lipstick bleed lines” in the cutaneous portion of the upper lip, additional treatments may be necessary. If the radial lip lines are prominent and dynamic in nature, it is good to inject B'tx as an adjunct treatment.
In patients with severe solar elastosis and photodamage who desire comprehensive perioral rejuvenation with long-lasting results, Co2 Fractional Laser resurfacing can be combined with B'tx and Lip Filler to enhance the appearance of the lips.
